Sustainability

At Foxstow, sustainability is not treated as an extra. It is built into the way we work, from where we source our timber to how we finish and deliver each project. We make all of our products at our workshop in the West Oxfordshire countryside, with offices and workshop on the same site, so we can keep our processes closely managed and our standards consistent.

Responsible Sourcing

We work with trusted suppliers to help ensure our materials are sourced responsibly. Our timber comes through Quercus Forest Products, a certified supplier committed to sustainability throughout the chain of custody. The oak we use is sourced from a company in Northern Italy that manages forestry concessions in Croatia, while our tulipwood is sourced from the Appalachian Mountains in the United States.

By working closely with a specialist supplier, we can maintain oversight of the materials we use and the way they are handled.

A Considered Approach To Finishing

We use water-based paint wherever possible. Compared with more solvent-heavy alternatives, this is a lower-VOC option and a more practical choice for both the workshop and the people working in it.

We also use an automated spraying system, which helps keep application controlled and reduces direct contact with paint during production.

Reducing Workshop Waste

We actively try to minimise waste through the manufacturing process. Our CNC software optimises sheet cutting to make efficient use of materials, and usable offcuts of MDF, plywood, and timber are retained for smaller components and future projects.

We separate metal for recycling and reuse, or recycle packaging, cardboard and pallets wherever possible.

Designed To Last

A sustainable room is one that is made well enough to stand the test of time. That is why we design and build our products with longevity in mind, using both modern and traditional machinery to create cabinetry and doors that are intended to perform for years.

Making the Most of What Already Exists

Sustainability is also about reducing waste. Where possible, we can help refresh existing cabinetry rather than replacing it entirely. If a layout still works, but the doors are worn, or the style no longer suits the space, bespoke replacement doors can offer a more sustainable way to transform the room.

Always Looking To Improve

We know sustainability is an ongoing process, not a finished statement. We are committed to continuing to improve our approach and to listening to better ideas as they emerge.
