Foxstow Blogs

At the Foxstow workshop in Oxfordshire, we take great pride in the raw materials we select. We routinely take delivery of high quality, sustainably sourced European timber. Every premium oak or ash plank we choose will eventually become a bespoke fitted wardrobe, a custom kitchen island, or handmade shaker doors designed to last a lifetime.

We've always loved the way rattan can soften a kitchen design. Combining natural cane webbing with classic shaker cabinetry creates a look that's full of texture and character, while still feeling timeless. At Foxstow, we make our rattan shaker and slimline shaker doors to order and can colour-match them to virtually any off the shelf paint colour, giving homeowners plenty of flexibility to create a look that's uniquely their own.

When it comes to designing a kitchen, colour is far more than a decorative choice. It’s a powerful tool that influences mood, appetite, and even social interaction. The psychology of colour can help transform your kitchen from a purely functional space into the emotional heart of your home.

Designing a kitchen today isn’t just about aesthetics, it’s about making choices that are kinder to the planet. Homeowners are increasingly turning to sustainable materials that reduce environmental impact without sacrificing beauty or durability. If you’re planning a remodel or dreaming up a bespoke kitchen, here are the top eco-friendly materials to consider in 2025.

The kitchen has long been the beating heart of the home, and in 2025, nothing embodies that more than the kitchen island. Once a purely functional work surface, today’s islands have evolved into stylish, multifunctional hubs that bring together cooking, dining, and socialising. Whether you’re planning a full kitchen renovation or simply want to reimagine your existing layout, a well-designed island can completely transform your space.

A Shaker kitchen draws its inspiration from the traditions of the Shaker religious movement, which originated in England in the late 1700s before establishing communities in America.

If you're dreaming of a beautiful bespoke kitchen and planning to pair our handcrafted Shaker doors with an IKEA METOD cabinet system, you're in great company. It’s a smart and stylish way to get a high-end, custom look without blowing the budget.

When planning your kitchen, one, of the many, decisions you will have is deciding on a Frameless or In-Frame design.

At Foxstow, we originally specialised in replacement doors, offering a high quality solution to update your kitchen with minimal hassle. Since our beginnings over ten years ago, we have expanded into a full kitchen offering due to our advanced machinery and specialist skill set.
