Moskito Island, Sir Richard Branson’s private island in the British Virgin Islands, was the setting for one of our most unusual and extensive projects. Working alongside KBA Residential, we were involved in creating bespoke interiors for this extraordinary Caribbean estate.
The project included kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, doors and architectural features for six villas, the Headland House, the tennis pavilion and several other buildings across the island. All the joinery was made in our Oxfordshire workshop before being transported more than 4,000 miles to the Caribbean.
Working on a remote island brought some unusual challenges. Everything had to be carefully planned, from transporting the joinery by sea to choosing materials suited to the tropical climate. With site visits and installation involving long-haul travel, getting every detail right before anything left our workshop was particularly important.
The joinery was designed to complement the architecture of the villas and their spectacular surroundings. With an understated style, beautiful materials and carefully made details, the interiors feel both elegant and relaxed, very much in keeping with island life.
The photographs were taken during installation and show just a small part of the joinery we made for this very special project.
Moskito Island has continued to evolve since our involvement, and its beautiful villas are now available for guests to enjoy. If you fancy a little Caribbean escape, you can explore the island, take a virtual tour and find out more on the Virgin Limited Edition website.
